Our Services

Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, is a method of 'seeing' inside the human body through the use of high frequency sound waves. It is a useful way of examining many of the body's internal organs non-invasively and without any discomfort.

The use of ultrasound has been deemed safe, even for pregnant women. There is no ionizing radiation involved and no known long-term or short term effects.

Below are the various types of ultrasound offered at our centres:

  • Abdomen: HBS & Kidney / KUB
  • Liver /Gallbladder
  • Kidneys
  • Pelvis
  • Focus ultrasound: Thyroid

  1. You will be positioned comfortably lying down on the scanning couch. The room may be darkened in order for the operator to optimize visualization on the monitor.
  2. A water-soluble gel will be applied over the area to be examined to optimize transmission of the sound waves through the body.
  3. An ultrasound probe will be moved over the area under examination.

The entire examination is usually completed within half an hour.

Before you come for any ultrasound examination, please follow the below instruction:

Abdomen ultrasound - Do not eat or drink 6 hours before the examination.

Pelvic ultrasound - Full bladder is required. Drink at least 2 glasses of water 1 hour before the examination. Do not empty your bladder.

Other ultrasound examination - no preparation is required.
