On 25 February 2008, NHGD signed an MOU with London South Bank University (LSBU) to support the BSc (Hons) professional development for Allied Health Professions (Radiography). The MOU was signed between Professor Deian Hopkin, Vice Chancellor of London's South Bank University and Dr Tyrone Goh, General Manager, NHG Diagnostics at the Office of the Vice Chancellor in London. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Professor David Sines, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, LSBU, Professor Mary Lovegrove, Head of Allied Health Profession, LSBU and Professor Lenny Tan, Clinical Advisor, NHGD.

NHGD will provide lecturers and facilities to teach students on the programme, management techniques and allow clinical postings in their 20 centres. Students will be able to learn by observing how NHGD radiographers manage the centres – which include overseeing a group of junior staff, student radiographers, liaising between the doctors in charge and the patients, handling complaints from irate patients, order inventory and collating statistics. In turn LSBU will facilitate NHGD staff deployment opportunities, such as study visits to LSBU and opportunities to learn more about LSBU’s development programmes.

Currently, during a diploma professional training course, students are often not taught such management skills. "It would, therefore, be strategic to collaborate with LSBU to include such topics in the upgrade course in Diagnostic Radiography for radiographers who wish to pursue a degree to upgrade themselves," said Dr Tyrone Goh, GM, NHGD.
